Solo Long Distance Solo Flights That Are Not Solo

With reality TV supporting more and more airtime on a very cost effective basis GA has also attracted the cameras.

Carol Voderman has flagged up her ambitions to take to the long distance flight arena while there are two UK to Australia "solo" flights currently being discussed elsewhere on this site.

Nice tv with a pretty women flying solo.

However solo in this modern age is rarely solo with one person funding the flight and flying alone. One of the current trips involves a camera crew, instructors support aircraft and a huge backup that includes promos for nice hotels.

Indeed the owner of Flyer magazine also has reservations.

I struggle big time with trips if people are happy to let the rest of the world believe it's solo when it isn't

At the risk of being shot down by the anti Kirk brigade on this site I suggest despite his personality problems he epitomised what a solo flight should achieve on his trip in a Cub from the UK to Australia. (Maurice Kirk...google him)
